Arrival in South Luangwa
On arrival at Lusaka Airport, you will connect onto a domestic scheduled flight to Mfuwe Airport, where a guide will welcome you and take you to Lion Camp — your home during your 3-night stay in Zambia's game-rich South Luangwa National Park.
Lion Camp — South Luangwa National Park
Famously known as the 'Pride of South Luangwa', this camp has ten rooms (7 luxury suites and 3 deluxe suites) sleeping 20 guests and is the northernmost camp on the west bank of the Luangwa accessible from the main Mfuwe area.
Its position is one of its strongest assets — by the time you reach camp you have left the busier Mfuwe area far behind. Lagoons near camp and rich riverine vegetation mean game-viewing is usually very good.
The tents are raised on stilts overlooking an ox-bow lagoon, each connected to the central area by a wooden walkway. The main area is spacious and airy with a pool, bar, snooker table, coffee station and spectacular views of wildlife on the plains.
The suites have been designed to maximize spectacular views of the plains, allowing guests constant viewing from either the main lodge decks or the luxury of their own private suite deck.
Activities are on foot or by vehicle. Night drives from this remote camp are a highlight — you are unlikely to see another vehicle while patrolling the area close to camp. Due to its remote location, Lion Camp is open from 21 May through to the end of October.
- Day and night game drives
- Walking safaris
- Safari sundowners

The Luangwa Valley at its finest
South Luangwa is renowned for leopard, elephant, giraffe and abundant birdlife. Walking safaris were pioneered here — and Lion Camp's remote setting puts you right in the heart of it.
Transfer to the Lower Zambezi
You will be transferred to Mfuwe Airport to catch a domestic scheduled flight to Royal Airstrip. At Royal, a guide will welcome you and transfer you to Zambezi Grande — your home for the final 4 nights of this Zambian safari.
Zambezi Grande — Lower Zambezi
Zambezi Grande is situated near the Lower Zambezi National Park, on a prime sector of the Zambezi River front, offering visitors an unforgettable personal retreat with all the sumptuous indulgences a discerning guest would appreciate.
This small, family-owned lodge on the banks of the Zambezi has 10 well-appointed air-conditioned rooms — 5 spacious stand-alone superior suites with great river views, and 5 luxury rooms closer to the river bank. The communal areas are decorated with style and elegance.
