Victoria Falls has two very different personalities, and picking the right month changes the entire experience.
**Full-flood season (February to May).** The Zambezi is at its peak. The falls throw up a mist column visible from 30 km away — locals call it Mosi-oa-Tunya, "the smoke that thunders." You'll get soaked on the Knife-Edge Bridge, and photography is tough because of the spray, but the sheer power is unforgettable.
**Low-water season (September to December).** The Zambian side dries up in places, exposing the geology of the gorge. This is when Devil's Pool opens — the natural infinity pool right on the lip of the falls — and when white-water rafting on the Zambezi is at its wildest.
**Sweet spot: June to August.** Cool, dry, clear photography, still-thundering falls on the Zimbabwean side, full-flow on the Zambian side. Livingstone's lodges book out early, so plan 3-4 months ahead.
Pair the Falls with a Chobe day trip across the border or a sunset cruise on the Zambezi — our Livingstone package covers both. Ask us about the Royal Livingstone and Tongabezi options for a proper honeymoon-grade stay.
